I have a template that you can fill in the answers. All the instructions are attached below. As well as the assessments that the child needs to do you can pick 4 out of the 6 i gave. For this module, you will be conducting several assessments with an individual student and then comparing the results of your child with the data from another child. Post your original data on the Discussion Board under the appropriate assessment. You will see that I have uploaded samples that can be used as comparisons for this task, but you may also use data that any of your classmates upload.
1. Select a child to work with for this assignment. It is best if the child is between 3-6 years
of age. You can work with a family member, friend of the family, neighbor, or a student
in a classroom.
2. Use the materials in the McGee & Richgels text appendices regarding how to administer
the literacy assessments. For your convenience, simple one-page directions for most of
the assessments are available on Canvas under the Assessment Module – “Potential
Assessments to Use.”
3. Conduct four assessments with your student over the next few weeks.
4. Upload your data to the Canvas Discussion Board so your classmates can see your
results. You should be uploading a description of the results of each assessment along
with the actual data, if possible. I will upload several samples for you to view and use if
you wish. You will see several Discussion Board links, each one for a different
assessment. You only need to complete four of the assessments with your student.
5. Compare the data from your student with the data from at least one of your peers’ student
(or the samples I provide), looking for similarities and differences.
6. Although you will be sharing data with your peers, this is not a group project.
Individually, complete the Assessment Module Template and upload to Canvas
Assignments by the due date. Be sure to provide specific evidence for any claims you
make about students’ strengths and needs. For example, if you state that both/all children
used a combination of capital and small letters when writing their names, you will add an
example such as “Aiden wrote his name as AiDen, and Sarah wrote her name as SaRaH.”
7. Written Reflection: Discuss your learning and thinking related to early childhood
assessments after completing this assignment. What insights have you gained about
differentiation as a result of this task? Add other additional thoughts and reflections.
Within your response, you will be asked to consider instructional activities for the children
based on their strengths and needs as determined from the data gathered. The following
tables in the McGee & Richgels (2014) text may be helpful:
3-year-olds – use instructional activities from Table 6.1 for ideas
4-year-olds – use instructional activities from Table 7.1 for ideas
5-year-olds – use instructional activities from Table 8.1 for ideas
Rubric – see next page.
