Select Continuous data from the options you are given on the screen.
From this choice you will see on the screen the words Analyze continuous data.
Under this heading are several options, one of which is the one sample t test.
Step 3: Select One-sample t test. Compare an observed and expected means
The title of the screen will now have the heading one sample t test.
On the left of the screen you will see the following: 1 Choose data entry format with several options beneath.
Step 4: Select the data entry format
From the list of options, select the first one, enter up to 50 rows. This means we have 50 or fewer clients data to be entered.
Step 5: Specify the hypothetical mean
On the right of your screen will be a box labelled Specify the hypothetical mean value.
This refers to the mean score for your pretest scores. In the case of the example of the study of drinking related self-efficacy. The mean of the pretest scores for drinking-related self-efficacy was 21.3. This is your hypothetical mean value.
Step 6: Enter your data
You will enter your data for posttest scores in the box labelled Enter your data on the bottom left of the screen. The posttest scores for the 6 clients were as follows: 23, 17, 25, 29, 19, 23. These are the score to be entered.
You will see the results on the computer screen as follows:
