I believe I’d like my blog to be on blogger and my topic to be about the traveling I’d like to do both domestically and abroad. For some examples, I’d like to travel to Australia, Croatia, Ireland, Turks and Caicos, and Gaitlanburg Tennessee. Most of these I’d like to be girlfriends trips I take with a few select family members annually.
Web Project:
You will create a web site or blog using the following guidelines:
make this an easy and fun project, it shouldn’t take long to do
the web site can be a blog, for example, use Blogger, Web.com, Google Sites or Tumblr (or your favorite blog tool)
the web site or blog needs to be fully navigable, a user can go from one page to another by clicking or scrolling
your blog needs to have media for each page/post, e.g., photos, movies, or sound files with attribution (see below)
the site must be published online and available to the public which is where it will be graded – don’t password protect the site
the site will have a home page with at least four but no more than six other web pages (blogs will have 4 to 6 complete entries)
all pages must be free from spelling, typographical and grammatical errors (-2 points for each)
follow the design aesthetics you learned from your PowerPoint Project, e.g., no dark red text on a black background and avoid Microsoft Word Art
your site must be logical in its presentation
HAVE FUN! Many former students report that this was the most exciting and valuable skill they learned in CIS105
IMPORTANT: all intellectual property that is not yours must be attributed
Typically, students like to review movies, restaurants, books or their favorite music artists. Some post vacation photos or show their dream vacation photos. Make this a fun and exciting project. If you have never created a web site or blog ask someone who has. You will be surprised how easy it is to create and work on. It may become addicting to tweak and find a place to stop so be warned.
Your project will be eligible for up to 25 points. Submit the link (URL) to your site in Canvas. If you want to create a blog I suggest using tumblr.com, blogger.com or Google Sites. If you have done blogs before, try some advanced tools.
There are lots of resources for creating a web site on the Internet. For Maricopa hosted Google sites, go to google.maricopa.edu and log in using your MEID. You can create your web project from there. Create a home page with your name and site idea, then create at least four or more pages (blog posts) after that.
If you already have a current web site or blog you can use that but you must add extra pages to show you made them during the dates of this class and it must be your own site/blog.
Grading Criteria:
Four to six pages published and accessible online, no password required for the reader to view – (up to) 5 Points
Media – photos or movies or other media for each page or post – (up to) 5 Points
Attribution – credit for content if not yours – (up to) 5 Points
Home page with at least four but no more than six other web page. Identify yourself on the Home Page – (up to) 5 Points
Error-free (grammar, typos, etc.) – (up to) 5 Points
