Human research in scientific studies has a dark past. While not all scientific studies of the past were unethical, many were; and in the present day, there are policies and procedures that researchers must follow to carry out ethical research.
For the Unit 6 Assignment, you will review historical human research studies that violated what are considered basic human rights when it comes to protecting research participants. You will also apply the principles of ethical research to these historical research studies and discuss how the IRB process could have prevented these studies from violating human rights.
Read the article attached titled “The Hepatitis Experiments at the Willowbrook State School” from “Section I: A Selected History of Research with Humans” in the Oxford Textbook of Clinical Research Ethics. Then, create a minimum six (6) slide presentation with speaker notes using the following guidelines:
