Describe the center area or dramatic arts stage. How is the area set up? What furniture and props/materials are available? Describe the space. Be specific. How many children can safely interact in this space provided?
Step Three: Anecdotal Recordings
Use anecdotal recordings to document the interactions and conversations. Be specific of interactions and words spoken. Record with accuracy and avoid interpretations. Your recorded observation should last a minimum of 5 minutes.

Watch the following video of an interview conducted with two early childhood professionals in regards to the teachers role in facilitating learning and creativity in the dramatic play center.

Step Five: Reflect
Reflect on your experience observing the dramatic play center and compare that experience to the answers you heard on the video interview.
What strategies were used by the teacher in facilitating children’s engagement in the dramatic arts?
Describe the accommodations made to include children with special needs or English language learners (if applicable)
Compare your notes from the observation with your findings from the interview conducted with the teacher. What similarities exist between the teacher’s perspectives and what you observed? What differences do you notice?
After listening to the video interview, what did the teacher you observed do especially well in relation to the dramatic arts? What recommendations might you make for further facilitating children’s experiences with the dramatic arts in this classroom?
Step Six: Check Your Work
Your final submission of the assignment should include the following:
Clear description of the setting you observed.
Five minute anecdotal observation recording with details.
Reflection paper addressing both the observation experience and the teacher interview provided
