Cognitive decline can be scary. The idea of losing the ability to care for yourself ranks among the highest fears of older adults. Whether through diseases like cancer, dementia, or losing mobility, the possibility of losing independence threatens a deep sense of self and identity. However, losing your independence in old age is not inevitable. There are ways we can protect ourselves from certain diseases and prepare for a healthier older adult experience.

At any age, there are preventive measures that can be taken to prevent cognitive impairment associated with aging. Share some specific steps you can take starting today to protect yourself from normal cognitive decline.
Growing older is inevitable, but as George Burns once famously said, “You can’t help growing older, but you don’t have to get old.” Falling is associated with cognitive decline and is a common fear of older adults, as falls can lead to injuries that are challenging to fully recover from. What is the best way to reduce fall risks in someone’s home and in daily life activities?
