In the world of finance, risk is the possibility that you will lose money if an investment you make provides a disappointing return. All investments carry risk (as do nearly all decisions we make in life), since a positive return is seldom guaranteed.
Personal risk tolerance is the amount of risk that an investor is comfortable taking or the degree of uncertainty that an investor is able to handle. Risk tolerance often varies with age, income, and financial goals. One of the best ways to determine your own personal risk tolerance level is by completing a questionnaire designed to reveal the level at which you can invest but still be able to sleep at night.
The quiz link for this assignment is one of many that are available online. If you did not get much from this particular survey, try another. Merely search for the term “online risk tolerance questionnaire” and you will find more than you will have the time to complete. Some that are particularly good (in my opinion) are:

I encourage you to complete a few of these to see where you stand. There is no better or worse risk tolerance level. Only one for each of us. But knowing where you stand will help you make better money decisions in your life (and fewer mistakes).
