Now that you have become more familiar with the “nuts and bolts” or “building blocks” of Jazz and some of the historical highlights take that knowledge and use it to analyze a piece of music (1 song or tune) you choose from an academic perspective.
This can be a jazz piece from any style, but make sure there is enough musical content to report on in a way that addresses the assignment’s requirements. If you are unsure what to choose, feel free to contact me.
Your analysis should include the following:

-Thorough description of instruments and/or voices used in the piece.
-How would you describe the style of the piece? For example, traditional, swing, bebop, Latin, cool, fusion, etc.
-The number of different musical ideas you hear in the piece. Are there two ideas that you might label A and B? Is there only one musical idea? Are there more than two ideas? Describe these different musical ideas to the best of your ability.
-The form of the piece. For example, 32-bar form, 12-bar blues, free form, solo chorus, head,  etc.
