Assignment Summary:
The next step in your “interview” process with your supervisor is to demonstrate excellent listening ability. Your supervisor asks you to talk about a time when you were an excellent listener.
For the purpose of this assignment, talking with someone you know (at work or at home) and have a conversation where you ask that person about their day or a relevant topic of importance to them. After the conversation is over, ask the person if they feel you are a good listener (follow up with why or why not). Write a report of how you were an excellent listener (based on the readings).
In a Word document provide the following:
The relationship of the person you were talking to (coworker, friend, family, spouse, etc.), the topic of conversation, where the conversation to place, and how long the conversation was.
Answer the following:
What did you do to make sure you were focused on the person talking?
How did you demonstrate to the person you were listening to that you were listening to them?
What did the person say to you when you asked them if you were a good listener?
What do you want to actively do to improve your listening skills?
Please follow these guidelines:
Your assignment submission should be 1-2 pages in length.
Submit your assignment using a Word document.
It should contain proper grammar, be free of spelling errors, and reflect critical thinking.
