Below are ‘essay’ questions/prompts to choose from for Part 2 of the INSTD 202 Final. You are required
to choose at least 2 questions/prompts to thoughtfully address.
**EXTRA CREDIT OPPORTUNITY: If you address more than the required to questions, you may earn
additional points (up to two additional questions, +30 extra points maximum).**
Submission and Formatting requirements for ‘Part 2’ responses:
a. Required word count (per question): 200-300 words
b. Be thoughtful about how you organize your work. Strive to be clear, logical, and focused in your
thoughts.
c. Use 12pt. font & double-space your work.
d. At the top of your the 1st page of your Part 2 response, identify which prompts your Part 2 thoughts
relate to. Clearly identify where your answer for each prompt starts.
e. Submit a MSword of .pdf file of your work.
f. Include your last name in your file’s name
PART 2 RUBRIC (per question):
1. Organization: 5 points — Writing is organized and well written (proper grammar, spelling,
formal/respectful tone). All formatting guidelines followed.
2. Comprehensive Response: 10 points – Your answer addresses the question directly and uses/reflects
on class content.
QUESTIONS/PROMPTS (Choose at least TWO from the following):
1. How did Europeans justify their rule of other peoples? How did their beliefs about themselves
shape how they actually did rule?
2. Why did scientists take the lead in establishing international organizations? What did these
organizations accomplish? What were their hopes for the future?
3. Explain why both Communist Russia and the U.S. supported decolonization during the Cold War
4. Explain how the U.S re-asserted global power in the 1980s, after it could no longer control the
United Nations, by using other international organizations
5. Consider how the 10 rules presented by God century’s final chapter apply to international
contexts that may be familiar to you. What do they mean for everyday interactions among
people of different faiths? For the future of elections/political participation/democracy?
