Psychodynamic models emphasize insight, motivation, unconscious conflict, early infant–caregiver attachments, unconscious intrapsychic object relations and, more recently, actual relationships and their impact on internal experiences. Increasing empirical evidence supports the efficacy of psychodynamic therapy in family counseling.
