you will be given the following 4 prompts and asked to write an essay that directly answers it. Your essay must have an original thesis/argument and utilize course content (lectures, readings, films) as evidence.
You must use at least 3 different sources (can be readings or films) from the course to support your argument. but you shouldn’t just summarize. It is important to focus on the source’s overall argument, not historical summary!
You should just use parenthetical citations if you decide to quote any sources – i.e. (Restall, 34).
Your goal is to showcase all that you have learned about the importance of multicultural history. Analyze your evidence as deeply and thoroughly as possible. You must have a thesis! Do not simply provide a general summary or overview. Proofread your work before submitting.
There is no minimum/maximum length – but you should aim to write as much as possible in the time allotted. It is my recommendation that you structure your essay in 5 paragraphs – introduction, 1 body paragraph for each source/point, and conclusion.
1.What should a history of the American “people” really look like?
2.Can one person alone write a satisfying multicultural history?
3.How can historians respectfully account for the diversity of actors from the past and present?
4. In what ways can multicultural history be seen as an avenue for change?
