How accurate do you think All Quiet on the Western Front is and how good do you think Remarque was as a historian?

The essay must use proper referencing form and bibliographic form for a history essay. (Chicago Style).
There are some research requirements and some research restrictions for this final
essay:
You must use a minimum of six (6) primary sources (ie letters) from The Canadian Letters and Images site. You already have three. The letters must be from six (6) different collections.
(I will provide you with the site and the three letters already chosen at the bottom of the instructions. You must choose the other three.)
You must use a minimum of one (1) scholarly journal article.
Book reviews are not articles and are not an acceptable source.
You must use a minimum of one (1) book (in addition to All Quiet) This should be a book relating to some aspect of the topic you are examining. It cannot be another novel.
You may not use any internet sources (other than what is taken from The Canadian Letters and Images Project).
You may not use encyclopedias of any type, including internet versions such as Encarta or Wikipedia as a source in the essay.
You may not use general history texts (ie. world history overview textbooks) as a source.
The assignment is to be 2,500 words, +/- 5%, in length.

(This letter can be used as an example in the essay of the significance of food for morale and a healthy mind for a soldier battling in the trenches – both psychologically and physically.)

(This letter continues to reinforce the gratitude soldiers had when receiving a small collection of food, and also the inconsistency and instability of food in general during wartime.)

(This letter should be integral to the essay as it does a sound job of encompassing the annoyance and desperation of the food situation for so many combatants during the war. Each of these three letters helps in drawing focus to the torment of a lack of a stable food source that greatly contributed to a desperate state of mind for most soldiers during the Great War.)
