Instructions for MLA quotation format for quotations from
the Iliad:
Quotations must cite line numbers, not page numbers. Do
not include the title in your quotation, only the book and lines numbers.

your text, enclosed in quotation marks.
Include slashes to indicate line breaks.
Note the placement of the period.
The narrator says: “The goddess

Quote four or more lines in a block quote
indented five spaces, and not enclosed in quotation marks. Do not use slashes. Double-space the block
