Jenz had long felt that Roland’s mother, Amasha, was a poor parent and very uninvolved in Roland’s life and well-being. Jenz decided that this was no environment for Roland. When it was time for Jenz to return Roland to his mother, Jenz instead decided that it was in the best interest of Roland to keep him with him. Jenz then proceeded to travel from California to Nevada to have Roland stay with Jenz’s mother in Las Vegas. Once Jenz and Roland reached Las Vegas, Jenz called Amasha to tell her that he had Roland in Las Vegas, to which Amasha replied, “whatever.” The next day, California Child Protective Services (CPS) came by Amasha’s house for a routine check on Roland. Amasha told the CPS officers that Roland was in Las Vegas. The CPS officers asked Amasha if she had approved Roland’s trip to Las Vegas with Jenz. Amasha replied “no.” The CPS officers contacted Las Vegas Metro Police and had Jenz arrested and Roland placed in protective custody.
