Then, you are asked to identify the appropriate pharmacological (medication) and non-pharmacological treatment (e.g., cognitive-behavioral therapy, psychoanalytic psychotherapy, transcranial magnetic stimulation, etc.). you are further asked to provide information relating to suggested pharmacotherapy, such as brand and generic names of the medication(s), the classification, the mechanism of action, the dosage (or the average range if the exact dose is variable), as well as the typical side effects of the medication.
you must also provide an appropriate rationale and the most recently available scientific evidence for their selected pharmacological treatment, to include publications (within the last 5 years) reviewing the drug for the particular psychiatric condition.
you should also discuss the role of social workers around dealing with pharmacological issues in this patient population.
A discussion of the selected non-pharmacological intervention (in addition to medication) should also include evidence from the research literature, including evidence of effectiveness in combination with pharmacotherapy, if possible.
