Finances include one of the necessities for sustenance for the terrorist groups. I define terrorist financing as the acts that involve providing, collecting or receiving funds. The funds are acknowledged to be used in terrorist acts or other instances that could cause bodily injury or death. Likewise, I could mention that terrorist financings are the methods and means used by terrorists in financing their involvements. The finances may be sourced from legitimate sources such as charitable organizations and business organizations. However, the sources of money may be from illegitimate sources, including illegal activities such as kidnapping for payment, drug trafficking, and weapon trafficking. Therefore, finances are needed to fund some explicit terrorist actions and achieve the costs of development and maintenance of the terrorist organization. This creates an environment that permits the sustenance of terrorism activities.
A certain amount of funds is required by terrorist organizations in maintaining and developing the organizational support structures. The money sustains the propaganda and legitimate activities apparently to achieve the validity of the terrorist organizations. I think there are several ways used in the generation of the funds for the terrorist organizations. Some of the techniques applied include optimism and adaptability. Through optimism and adaptability, the organizations can get funds from legitimate sources that include self-financing by the terrorists themselves, legitimate businesses, and the exploitation of charitable entities. Likewise, I think the terrorist organizations may get finances from their engagement in diverse criminal activities varying from low-level crimes in sophistication to organized schemes. Terrorists may also use an extensive diversity of methods to move finances between organizations such as the financial sectors. Courier movement of money in cash is another possible way that I think the organizations may use.
