April 28, 2024

For your final assignment, you will develop a workforce plan in response a change introduced into your chosen organization’s environment.  The following list are examples of catalysts for change that will prompt workforce planning:
New product development
New service
Reduce employee-related costs
Change in external environment (note: make sure you identify change)
Employee retention
Increase in minimum wage
Gap in skills
Changes in technology
Increased use of artificial intelligence
Strategic goals
Catastrophic event
Opening a new business or location
Closing/temporary closure of a location/site (not the entire business)
Mass deployment
Organization realignment
………..There are many more….these are just suggestions
Using Ames Construction, identify a catalyst for change that results in the need for workforce planning.  Create a workforce plan in which you include the following elements:
Brief organizational identification and background
Description of the catalyst for change
Supply analysis–evaluating the current demographics, skills, and competencies, anticipated turnover, etc.
Demand analysis–current workforce training needs, available labor, external forces that may influence current and needed labor.
Gap analysis—when comparing the supply and demand analysis, identify the additional number of employees needed, if anyone will not be needed, the needed skills set, as well as contingency scenarios as just a few of the thing you will evaluate.
Solution—consider a variety of solutions such as recruiting, training/retraining, contingent staffing, temporary workers, part-time employees, contract workers and consultants, outsourcing.
Some additional assignment guidance:
Your paper should be in proper APA format with a title page (no abstract required).
Your paper will be no less than 6 pages and no more than 8 pages
Do not just state, explain.  When making a point, one of the most common mistakes is not to offer enough details. A paragraph/section without much detail will seem vague and incomplete. A paper is always strengthened when your claims are as specific as possible, the more detailed evidence you offer, and the more reference points your reader will have. Remember that you are communicating your understanding to a reader who has only your description to go by.  In addition, you want to provide sufficient detail that an informed decision can be made.  If you find yourself saying you need more info, then your paper needs more substance.
Your paper should also include a minimum of five (5) sources– properly cited in-text and in a reference list in APA format. For every source, you will have at least one citation.  Remember, you cite information that is 1) not common knowledge, 2) paraphrased, or 3) directly quoted.
You will note that the rubric does not specifically address issues such as late submission or unoriginal content (plagiarism, etc.). In the event that a submission is found to have concerns in either of these areas, the instructor may make a manual deduction the final calculated score in the appropriate amount as deemed appropriate.
Remember, academic papers are considered formal papers and should use a formal tone.  The preferred voice is 3rd person.   The use of first and second person is discouraged.  Only use first-person perspective where applicable and appropriate, i.e., describing your own role, distinguishing from your point of view and others, referring to your actions, or writing is reflective or contains personal elements, otherwise use 3rd person.
