OPTION 1: White Supremacy vs. Black Love
Compare and contrast the current Civil Rights movement, for Black lives (#BLM in response to police brutality, the prison industrial complex, systemic economic oppression, rapid growth of the (Alt-Right) white supremacy in the Trump era, and the continued disenfranchisement of Black people in the United States) to the attempted coup by Trump supporters on January 6, 2020 (#Jan6th). Some questions you may want to consider:
What was the response by media, to the #BlackLivesMatter protests vs. the response by media to the #Jan6th
What has been the political response to #BlackLivesMatter vs. the political response to #Jan6th
What was your personal response to the #BLM protests vs. your personal response to #Jan6th
What has been white supremacy’s response to #BLM vs. white supremacy’s response to #Jan6th (think: national dialogue/narrative about issues)
OPTION 2: Black American Resistant Movements
Choose one resistance movement that Black Americans have participated/are participating in and research it and analyze its impact on larger social justice/human rights efforts. Some of the issues that you may analyze include, but are not limited to:
Goal(s) of the Movement;
Response from government (local or national);
Method of resistance used (violent vs. non-violent);
Impact of media representation of movement;

When did Black people get the right to vote? (Please specify which groups- of Black people- got the right to vote, when they got the right, and why they were allowed to vote).
What obstacles have been placed on Black Americans’ right to vote, historically?
What obstacles are currently being implemented to limit Black Americans’ (and other oppressed groups) right to vote?
Why are voting rights so important for historically oppressed groups?
How are issues like, “voter fraud” racialized against Black Americans?
Lastly, what suggestions do you have to ensure that Black Americans (and other oppressed groups) are fully enfranchised and able to vote in the United States?
Please use as many sources from the course as you can. You are allowed to use outside sources, but it is not required. All sources must be cited in APA format, unless you are more comfortable and fully understand another citation format.
You will need to upload your file, so all formatting guidelines (font, margins, spacing, and NetTutor or personal proofreading) are required.
