For this paper, you will research the hoax of Elizabeth Holmes and Theranos. After researching relevant background information on your hoax (library databases or online sources), you will build your argument around the answers to at least some of the following questions: What cognitive biases did the hoaxer play upon (Konnikova and Moore/Parker), and/or what were the cultural/psychological/historical reasons (library databases or online sources) why people initially believed this hoax? How was counterknowledge (Levitan) employed by the hoaxer and/or what logical fallacies (Moore/Parker) were present but overlooked?
Again, this is not a paper in which you provide just background information on the hoax you’ve chosen. Rather, you’ll want to form an argument regarding why the hoax was perpetuated and how it was (at least temporarily), accepted as fact.
Requirements:
6-8 pages, not including Works Cited.
12-point font; double spaced, MLA format, works cited
4-5 correctly integrated and cited sources. One of these sources should be from Mastermind and/or Critical Thinking. Another of these sources must be a scholarly source from an academic journal from the library databases. The others can be from the databases or from other online sources.
