For this assignment:
4 Bit Controlled Comparator
SPECIFICATIONS:
INPUTS:
Create a circuit in Logisim that will take the following inputs:
A: 4-bit binary number
B: 4-bit binary number
C: Control where:
if C = 0, A and B will be treated as unsigned binary
if C = 1, A and B will be treated as 2’s complement signed binary
(for example, the number 101 represents the value ‘5’ if it is treated as unsigned binary,
but it represents the value ‘-3’ if it is treated as 2’s complement.)
Firstly, you have to make three subcircuits (separately three circuits, not in one circuit):
1st is 4bit A=B (0ne circuit separately)
2nd is 4bit A>B (0ne circuit separately)
3rd is 4bit A<B (0ne circuit separately)
Secondly, you must build a separate SIGNED COMPARATOR and modify the UNSIGNED COMPARATOR to work for signed numbers. (Another Separate Circuit)
Thirdly, you will combine both the UNSIGNED and SIGNED COMPARATORS, using a control line to control Multiplexers whose job is to output the results of the UNSIGNED COMPARATOR or the SIGNED COMPARATOR to the outputs. (Another Circuit)
Make sure all the parts must have separate circuits and follow the instructions written.
Do not make incorrect circuits; otherwise, you must redo the circuit ASAP. I highly recommend downloading and testing it from another PC to ensure it works. If you can use Logisim to make the circuits, that would be better.
