For this assignment you will write a minimum 1,000 word (your word count should not include your header or sources, it must be 1,000 words of content; if you do not meet this requirement you will not receive the bonus credit) paper relating in some way to history with a focus on the accounting/business/economic/commerce forces and factors that have influenced historical events. Your paper may be about a specific person, a specific event, a specific era, or any other conception of history you choose, provided you focus in some way on the business/accounting/economic elements of the topic you choose. This assignment is not The History of Accounting, please pick a more focused topic. This is a bonus assignment in a class that is based mainly around practical concepts and therefore there is not rigorous criteria being enforced for this assignment, although the following items are crucial to your receiving credit:
You must meet the word count in actual content, sources, headers, footnotes, etc. do not count toward the word count for the purposes of this assignment.
The assignment must be properly cited. I’d like you to cite at least 2 sources, these may be academic sources but may be web sources as well. All I ask is that the sources be not totally bogus and that you cite them. You may use whatever citation format you like; I don’t care if it’s APA, MLA, etc. as long as I can find the source based on your citation.
The assignment should be double spaced, Times New Roman, 12-point font, standard margins. Include your name in the header.
There must be some manner of care put into the work that you turn in; I’m not expecting a thesis but this is a college level course so I expect work that I would at least consider college level (i.e., proper grammar and formatting, clear sentence and paragraph structure, a clear narrative line throughout the document, an attempt to demonstrate understanding of the material being written about rather than just the paraphrasing of words).
