For this assignment, we will focus on one non-profit partner: Project Access (https://www.project-access.org/) or PA for short. Please check out the resources we have put together in this module. You will need to review the content posted so you can become familiar with the mission and practice of Project Access. (Please see Project Access (https://www.project-access.org/) Resources.) This will include browsing the Project Access website, reading publications and interview transcripts, and watching interview recordings and other public-domain video recordings about and by Project Access that we have located and included in this module. You are encouraged to take notes during this information-gathering phase. You can use Template and Guidelines for Observational Notes to record your observational notes.
In your synthesis essay, you are expected to describe the site’s mission/function, clientele served, programs offered, partners/sponsors, careers available, and skills/competencies expected of job applicants on page 1. On page 2, you will discuss specific concepts and issues of human learning and development that are intentionally and expressly incorporated into the design of programs offered by the site by focusing your analysis on one initiative adopted by Project Access (e.g., education for youth and families, economic stability, health and wellness, and community safety and connections). Choose an initiative area that addresses the questions/social issues you want to address with a degree in HLD. Then discuss ways your chosen Project Access initiative can be supported by 2-3 BIS HLD disciplines you have learned about this semester.
