March 8, 2024

For the final course project assignment, you will synthesize what you have produced in your previous assignments and produce a polished version of a public health policy brief to the CDC that clearly contains elements drawn from the three previous assessments.

You will be expecting the CDC to issue a finding recommending that your emerging issue be considered a CDC priority. Keep in mind that your goal is to raise and increase awareness of your emerging issue and ask the CDC to take action.

Public Health Policy Brief to the CDC

The documents you are preparing to provide the CDC must meet the professional expectations of a national panel of public health experts.

The total length of your brief is approximately 20 pages and consists of the following three parts.

Part One: Public Health Policy Brief

Include the following:

  • A 15-page public health policy brief (excluding title page, table of contents, and reference list).
  • 1–2-page executive summary. Note: Executive summaries are created after you have finished writing a full brief. Once you have written your summary, insert it at the beginning of the briefing document.

Refer to the Week 9 Assignment Instructions document given in the resources for specific instructions related to the content and structure of your public health policy brief to the CDC.

Part Two: PowerPoint Presentation

Create a 10-minute PowerPoint presentation that captures the key points of your briefing document.

Part Three: Addendum

Include the infographics you intend to use as part of your communication strategy to raise awareness about the emerging public health issue. You are encouraged to tweak your infographics from the previous assignment based on feedback from the instructor and your expanding understanding of the issue as a result of the activities in this course.

Submission Requirements

Your assignment should meet the following requirements:

  • Written communication: Written communication is free of errors that detract from the overall message.
  • References: A minimum of 25 resources.
  • APA formatting: Resources and citations are formatted according to current APA style and formatting.
  • Length:
    • Executive summary: 1–2 typed, double-spaced pages.
    • Public health policy brief: A minimum of 15 typed, double-spaced pages (excluding title and reference pages).
    • PowerPoint presentation: 10 minutes in length, with speaker notes. Slide design and font sizes should be appropriate to the audience.
  • Addendum: Include infographic and e-mail communication thread (if received) intended for use in the communication strategy.
  • Font and font size (for the brief and executive summary): Times New Roman, 12 point.
