For my program evaluation, I
intend to evaluate the ARCHES program. Arches program is offered in 13 sites
across the five boroughs of NYC. Arches was founded in 2012 as a part of the
NYC Young Men’s initiative that is managed through the Department of probation.
Arches is a transformative mentoring program in the community that is grounded
in the process model for emotional regulation and utilizes curriculum-based
group mentoring by applying cognitive-behavioral, social-emotional, and
mindfulness principles. Arches main goal is to transform the mentality and
behavior of young men and women who are on probation by working on cognition
and problem-solving skills that can be useful when encountering criminal
behavior or in their everyday social life and to prevent from committing criminal
activities.
“Write a program evaluation plan (16 pages double-spaced). Students will each do an in-depth evaluation an existing community-level human
services program or community justice initiative. Provide in-text citations (APA style) and include
a bibliography. In the
needs assessment, evidence was analyzed to substantiate a specific community need and
potential solutions. Students will now evaluate a program currently
addressing the concern identified in the Needs Assessment.
Use the following outline for the program evaluation plan. First, provide an Introduction in
which you describe the program. Include information such as the type of organization it is
(human services program, not-for-profit, community justice initiative, social enterprise, etc.),
date it started, mission and accomplishments, etc. Provide a brief overview of the historical
development of human services for this issue? What have been the major service trends? Why did
you choose to evaluate this program or initiative? The remainder of the paper should be outlined
using the following sections (4-5 pages each section):
• Section 1 – Program Design & Theory Evaluation
• Section 2 – Process / Implementation Evaluation
• Section 3 – Outcomes Evaluation
• Section 4 – Program Cost evaluation
Finally, write a Conclusion where you assess what was the impact of the program? Did the
program make the intended beneficiaries better off? Where there any unanticipated
consequences of the program? Were there any differences with the amount or quality of the
services different participants received from the program? Were there differential effects to
different subpopulations among the intended beneficiaries? A comprehensive evaluation should
uncover and highlight both the successes and strengths of a program as well as its challenges and
weaknesses. A comprehensive evaluation should also provide suggestions for change and growth.
If the program does not seem to be working do you have a solution based on research and
evidence? How does the research indicate that the alternative strategies or actions are viable? Did
they work elsewhere? Give details. Can this evaluation and/or your solution to the problem serve
as a model for other places and groups?
