Follow the links below to explanatory material on the Troy-based Kresge Foundation’s Detroit Program OR its Health Program and then review information there on one (ONE, not both) of those programs.
Review the “Health” program if your make believe employer – or the program or project that is the topic of your grants assignments – falls into that area.
Chose “Detroit” if your make believe employer – or the program or project that is the topic of your grants assignments – is NOT specifically healthcare/health promotion-related
There is a lot of material in both sections and I do not want you to review it all. Instead, focus on just the three specific parts of the write ups on the programs listed below. Take a quick look at:
1) The “About the..” section – the broad overview of that particular area of Kresge Foundation activity.
2) “Our Strategies” / “We Invest in these Focus Areas”
3) “We Invest in these Initiatives”

After you’ve looked at the three items above for one of the Kresge Programs, VERY briefly (50 or 60 words total) address the following three questions:
a) After reading the Kresge material, do you feel confident that you now clearly understand the Foundation’s interests in Health or Detroit? If not, why not?
b) Based upon what you’ve read, do you think it LIKELY, POSSIBLE, or UNLIKELY that the Kresge Foundation might consider supporting the work of your “make believe employer” if so, why? If not, why not?
c) After looking at the information on the Kresge Foundation programs, could you see yourself potentially becoming involved in grants work as a Grantmaker ? (A grantmaker is staff member of a foundation, corporation, or unit of government who is assigned to helping their employer find and evaluate opportunities to make grants in furtherance of its mission).
