The paper is for an English poetry writing class. Please follow the instructions very carefully as it’s very important.
In this research paper you’ll be writing about poet Adrienne rich. It’ll be based on your research about her work, her writing styles, her poems. DO NOT MAKE THIS ABOUT HER BIOGRAPHY!! This paper will be 8-10 pages long, double spaced and should include close reading or, where necessary, listening to examples from this writer, school of thought, form, etc to help your reader understand the work.
You are barred from saying something is confusing! You are explaining these ideas to someone – work through these ideas and reach out to prof if you need help making sense of them. This is a research paper in an academically oriented environment, so please stay away from the use of “I” and overt subjectivity wherever you can so that we can get the information RATHER THAN your own feeling on a subject.
Feelings are good and important
– feelings are not, however, generally that informative.
– In this essay, your aim is to introduce your reader to this poet, etc. That will mean contextualizing historically, situating your reader with respect to the work you are discussing, etc.
– This is an academic essay. You are expected to use library resources, and other vetted resources that we have looked at in class as sources. Random source from the internet…not so much.
– Make sure to include a LIMITED amount of biography. This is about the writer not just about their upbringing, where they went to college, etc. Some of that may be useful to get us started in understanding their work, but it is not enough.
– Aim to give a close read or comparison of a few poems. How do these poems fit into the writer’s overall body of work? Are they reflective of an approach the writer took / continues to take in their writing? How so? Please write in MLA format and work cite all the sources. It’s a poetry research paper so keep that in mind. It should be knowledge based, don’t go too into the biography.
Focus on poetry, put little bit close reading of her poems in the beginning then go in a little biography and explain how her biography and her writing work in intertwined. Also focus on What kind of poetry, what other writing, who they associate with, who they mention in thei group, pensound, their blog, writing style, social work and which generation they’re form. Basically research on how her lifestyle impacted her writing work. Use informative sources like Pennsound. Please reach out if you have any questions.
