First you need to read “Ten with A Flag” by Joseph Paul Haines. After,
Provide an introduction that hooks in the reader while explaining the role(s) of critical thinking within the dystopian short story.
You should pose ONE issue about the short story in question form before your thesis statement.
You should have a thesis statement that argues about the relevance of this short story in the modern day and make an argument about the dystopian short story’s overall importance.
Part I, Critical Thinking Analysis: In this section, you will complete an analysis of various critical thinking concepts learned in Unit 1, 2, and 3. This section should be at least three full pages. You must have evidence from the short story in this section.
This aspect of your argument should be meant to showcase how this dystopian environment influences and affects society on an individual and collective level
Analyze for the theme/thematic elements present in the story
Analyze for examples of figurative language and what the purpose and meanings of these examples are in relation to the story
Analyze for examples of diction and how this relates to the overall message, intent, values, overall meaning, etc.
Analyze for how this story meets the criteria of a dystopia (characteristics, types of control, protagonist, etc.)
Analyze for examples of cognitive bias in characters within the story
Analyze for examples of kinds of thinking in characters within the story
Part II, Real World Connections: In this section, you will draw real world connections to the story you chose. What that connection is specifically is your choice. Yet, this should come from some form of context that the subject matter is related to: gender perspective, national/geographic background, historical, moral, psychological, cultural, societal, political, etc. You can relate this back to the current day (meaning, the 20th and 21st centuries). The connections should be rooted in concepts, events, or relations back to real world matters. In other words, this should be connected back to something that can be researched and your connections can be supported by outside sources. This section should be at least three full pages. You must have evidence from the short story AND outside research to support your analysis in this section. When drawing the connections, consider
how the story makes reference to the real world event (whether consciously or unconsciously)
how are there aspects of this dystopian environment and society present in the modern world around us (support this with your examples/research)
how is the dystopian/sci-fi genre in the show or story  making a social commentary about the real world
how are the problems within the story is present in contemporary society
how the dystopian environment and society in the story is an allegory for modern society and environment
how the dystopian genre is making a social commentary about the real world
what the meaning/role of the story’s events set in a dystopian environment are
A conclusion paragraph that reflects on the role of dystopian fiction in the modern day as well as what you learned about the modern day society, culture, or yourself by reading this short story and completing this analysis. The conclusion must be at least 5 sentences.
YOU NEED TO READ THE STORY OR NOTHING WILL MAKE SENSE OR BE CORRECT.
AND PLEASE NO AI I WILL PAY A GOOD TIP IF THIS IS NATURAL WRITING. Thank you
