The Site Scenarios
Site One
The first site is in the California Central Valley and is an established facility.
This facility has all three production, warehousing, container manufacturing and is looking to:
Optimize manufacturing with additional automation and the potential use of RFID technology.
This facility is also working on having a more layered supply chain to enhance sustainability and prevent future hinderances on the supply chain.
The facility is also trying to enhance consistency through continuous improvement and better quality, and reduced cost is being deployed on several production lines at a West Coast facility.
This site is looking to integrate SAP as an ERP system, and a CRM and this needs to be layered in with the use of current popularly used software systems which are already in place.
Preventative maintenance and safety training have also been causing issues with the supply chain and work force retention issues.
Extended lead times for spare parts and other operational consumables, including some which are unknown to be obsolete, are impacting maintenance efforts and other needed projects.
Detail points for process improvement as a means of continuous improvement. This includes potential pros and cons of costs for upgrades or potential pushbacks on policy changes. In this using concept of kaizen six sigma is encouraged.
The workforce currently at this site is also in the process of developing a union and making new contracts and negotiations. The Human Resource Department is not accustomed to dealing with Union negotiations and a specialist may need to be engaged for the company to help with operational adjustments as this process moves forward.
