Final Paper
Details
Many of you will be submitting the final combined version of your
research paper by 9 a.m. on May 1. In preparation for that, I wanted to remind
everyone of a few things.
Your paper should read like one article rather than a combination of
four short papers. Avoid repeating yourself. You don’t need to reintroduce your
topic for every section. Also, everything needs to be updated and all
corrections made.
Your paper will include:
·
At least 15 pages of text not counting the cover page or
works cited.
·
An introduction – This is a revised version of your
justification that reflects what you did.
·
A literature review – Make sure you have 15 peer
reviewed sources. You’ll need to add to those you submitted earlier in
the semester and remember that all sources in the references section need to be
cited in the paper.
·
A statement of research questions/hypotheses – Anything
you include here needs to be addressed in the findings.
·
A methods and ethics section – This reflects what you
actually did and doesn’t include the timeline/budget. It needs to be
written in the past tense. Your data materials and methods tools should
not be included in the body of your paper. You’ll turn those in as a
separate submission. So, for example, there shouldn’t be a three-page survey in
the middle of the methods section of the paper. Discuss the methods but leave
the actual methods tools for the later submission.
·
A findings section – Be sure to work in the suggestions
and edits.
·
A discussion/conclusions section – Be sure to connect
your findings to some of the theories/principles/concepts you addressed in the
literature review.
·
A short limitations section.
In addition to this, keep the following in mind:
·
No first person. Don’t use “I” or
“me” in any part of your paper.
·
Use APA-style citations with page numbers. This applies
to the in-text citations and the references page.
·
Avoid grammar, punctuation and spelling mistakes.
·
Include a cover sheet with your name and the title of the
paper. This won’t count toward the page requirement.
·
Use double-spacing, 12-point Times New Roman font, and
one-inch margins. Section headings can be used, but they should not have
any more than two spaces before or after them. The idea is that everyone will
be required to produce the same amount of material
