• Explain the rationale or purpose of the study including the theories that are related to the topic being studied.
• Is the literature reviewed adequate and reviewed critically? (explain your answer)?
• Describe the aims and hypothesis/ses (if relevant to the type of article)
• Describe the methodology. To help you to describe the study think about whether it clearly enables you to replicate it with a different sample.
Thus the method and your description need to explain the characteristics of the participants, the materials and the apparatus used as well as the procedures followed.
• Explain whether you think that the methodology used was appropriate to the aims and testing of the hypothesis.
If not why and what alternative methods could be used?
• Describe whether the interpretation of the results is reasonable by explaining whether they are reported in a logical and clear way in addressing the hypothesis/ses of the study.
• Are the findings of the research adequately described and do they relate to the background research in the introduction? Are they discussed appropriately? Do they acknowledge the limitations of the research? Are future directions indicated?
• Explain whether you agree with the conclusion of the article.
