For the application, you must show that you understand the roles, responsibilities, and functions/activities of this position by discussing a social problem that you are most passionate about. You must also be able to conduct research on your chosen topic.{SOCIAL WORKER}
Assignment Directions
Begin by researching a human services job in your intended career path. You may refer to the human services roles in Chapter 2 or the supplemental career resources in this unit for assistance in researching your career interests. Then, research the history of the social problem you have chosen to discuss. Be sure to select a social problem that is related to your concentration area, either Family and Community Services, or Organizations and Social Services.
For this assignment, you will provide the hiring committee with a writing sample to discuss the roles and responsibilities of the human services professional and your social problem.
Please respond to the following:
Explain the specific roles, responsibilities, and functions/activities of the position you identified, including advocating for social change and leadership in diverse practice settings. (½ page minimum)
Identify a social problem you are passionate about and describe the purpose and history of major policies related to this social problem. (2–3 pages minimum)
For example, if your social problem is related to child welfare, then you will need to describe a significant policy or policies related to child welfare, the main purpose of the child welfare policy, and the key historical events or influential individuals.
Last, explain how these roles and functions as an advocate and leader help to alleviate the identified social problem. (1 page minimum)
Your assignment should be a 3–5 page expository essay, not including the title and reference pages, and should include the following elements:
Title page: Provide your name, title of assignment, course and section number, and date.
Body: Answer all the questions in complete sentences and paragraphs.
Your responses should reflect professional writing standards, using proper tone and language. The writing and writing style should be correct and accurate, and reflect knowledge of skills and practice of the profession.
Reference page: Sources listed in current APA format.
Include a minimum of three scholarly or academic sources to support your responses and conclusions.
Use Arial or Times New Roman 12-point font, double-spaced and left aligned.
Use standard 1″ margins on all sides.
