INSTRUCTIONS
Complete 1 of the following 3 questions in the form of a position based research essay. Four to six paragraphs with intro, body and conclusion paragraphs. Your intro should include a clear thesis statement. You are required do use research that goes beyond your textbook, lecture notes and materials that I have provided you. You are required to have a work cited and use at very minimum 2 sources.
1. Pick a social program / service that you are passionate about and explain what direction you would like our nation to go in terms of that social program. (Unit 1 focused)

2. Ideally does the United States need less or more government intervention concerning economic activity? Why? (unit 1 focused)

› Make your case using logic based on the material we have learned in this unit
3. How would you recommend a person invest for their financial future? (Unit 3)
› Be very comprehensive. If you have a plan similar to the one, I advised add some nuance and specifics.
• What types of investments would you recommend? Be very specific
• Benefits of your investment plan. Why you plan is the best
• Alternatives Investments your plan does not include and why
RUBRIC
Intro
– Did you provide appropriate and relevant background information on the topic (4 points)
– Did you provide a clear thesis? (3 points)
– Did you outline the main ideas you will use to prove your thesis? (3 points)
Body Paragraphs
– Did you follow the outline provided in your introduction? (2 points)
– Did you cite 2 appropriate articles / books and did they help prove your thesis? (4 points)
– Did each body paragraph thoroughly present an idea that helped prove your thesis? (8 points)
– Did you confront and destroy any counter arguments to your position? (2 points)
Conclusion
– Did your conclusion wrap up the entire crux of the essay? Did it restate the thesis, main points and verify that your opinion was correct? (4 points)
