Central Level:
•Identify the key positions necessary in the National TB Programme – Central Unit (identify
a country)
•Describe the qualifications needed for the post
Design their Terms of reference (TOR) : who is doing what?

•Cose a country: your country or a country you like or where you want to work in the future. A country at high or intermediate incidence of TB where a strong NTP is available, better fits the scenario for an exercise. But you are free to choose one
•Write a word file with your exercise. It can include text and tables, as you wish. Ideally it can be between 2 and 4 pages with a certain space of freedom.
• identify the core functions. Usually they are between 5 and 10. Specify if the job position will be full-time or part time
• Then describe the qualifications necessary for the post (qualifications, experience, etc)
• Finally design their Term of Reference (ToR): what are they supposed to do?
Exercise 2:
District level:
. Prepare a timetable of TB-related activities in a typical week for a District TB Coordinator in a rural area
. Design a check-list to supervise the peripheral units in your District

•First, identify the core activities the TB coordinator at District level is supposed to do.
•Then create a time-table and describe them as needed. You may want to describe different weeks (week 1, week 2, etc) organised differently.
•One of the activities is supervision. A check-list is necessary to support this activity. Design a check-list which fits the needs of the country you have chosen

Central Level (NTP Central Unit
•Develop technical policies and guidelines for TB
•Coordinate the TB programme activities (prevention, diagnosis and treatment)
•Coordinate activities with other MoH programmes and health care providers (malaria, HIV, diabetes etc..)
•Coordinate training and supervision
•Collaborate with other MoH departments, other Ministries & partners
•Conduct Monitoring and Evaluation
•Coordinate operational research
•Ensure programme planning and budgeting
Regional (Intermediate) Level
•Coordinate with the National Level
•Collaborate with District (Peripheral) Medical Officers
•Coordinate the need/estimate for supplies ( regular, uninterrupted supply of drugs, laboratory reagents, other supplies)
•Supervise TB Case Registers and TB Laboratory Registers
•Ensure training courses and supervision are conducted
•Review and evaluate district quarterly reports on case-finding and treatment results
•Collaborate with other health care providers
District (Peripheral) Level
•Coordinate and implement DOTS activities in the District (prevention, diagnosis, treatment)
•Register cases, prepare quarterly reports and analyze the data → local health decisions → public health decisions
•Supervise health facilities and laboratories (check the quality of data registered/notified)
•Ensure continuous supply of drugs and other supplies at District (Peripheral) Level and estimate needs
•Coordinate local training of identified staff (cadres)
•Plan and budget activities in the District
