The requirement for this assignment will consist of a critical review describing the topic of choice using examples and how it evolved through time. This research paper has to include quantitative and analytical reasoning techniques.
You may select one topic from either options in section 1 or section 2:
1- One major aspect of biological anthropology is genetic variation among different ethnic populations. As such, different ethnic groups face different health problems in response to genetic make-up as well as lifestyle. We have seen in class how certain groups of people have a greater prevalence of specific health conditions.

How is this condition transmitted?
Is this condition Mendelian (dichotomous variation) or a continuous variation? Explain in which way it is one or the other.
What populations/ethnicity are more commonly affected? (use quantitative data).
Explain why it is common among this particular population. Is it due to a particular behavior or environment?
Explain how in some cases these conditions could be adaptive.
Is epigenetics contributing to the understanding of a particular condition?
Writing Guidelines
Minimum of 1500 words, specified at the end of the essay (word count=).

Include a title (no title page)
Topic sentence should be stated at the end of the first paragraph.
No quotes or cut and paste. Use citations when paraphrasing other people’s work. Plagiarism is not tolerated.

Citations (author and date [year]) should be included in the text of your essay (in-text citations) as well as in a separate reference section.

Additional web sources or books can be used (in addition to the journal sources). Only recognized academic institutions may be used for web citations (e.g. Smithsonian Institution, AAAS, PBS, Nova).
Correct the spelling.
When using scientific names, make sure you use italics, binomial nomenclature, and the correct spelling.
Submit your work through Canvas which has a “turnitin” component that assesses your paper’s original work. I specifically look at the matching sources indicated by “turnitin” for your grade. “Turnitin” cannot be greater than 15%. Don’t use AI, its use is grounds for a 0.
