You will critically analyse and evaluate definitions of leadership within practice and critically evaluate the impact of different approaches to leadership and management in relation to policy changes in an organisation. These points will be evidenced from your findings in the first three problem-based learning statements, so draw on the information you documented in your ePortfolios. Please make sure you have cited all secondary sources you have used and include a reference list. Your reference list will not be included in your word count.

The PBL scenarios are:You work in a leadership role within a school or other educational setting. You have been directed to move towards online learning. However, you soon receive emails from parents concerned about their children’s academic progress and social and emotional wellbeing. Among the concerns, one anxious parent asks: ‘What can I do to keep my son and daughter from feeling isolated from their friends?”
A science teacher/tutor tells you that it is not possible to adapt to online learning because the students need access to a laboratory. Some colleagues are also concerned about the delivery in art, music, and PE. However, the head of ICT is full of enthusiasm and suggests that here is the opportunity to embrace the power of technologies for effective learning.
You speak to a group of students about their experiences of distance learning. They have mixed views. One says: ‘It’s great. I can wear my pyjamas, eat my breakfast and do other things while the teacher talks’. Another high-achieving pupil says that he completes the whole day’s lessons in less than two hours which is “dumped in Google classroom”. A third pupil with special educational needs says he struggles to understand the words in the PowerPoints and other resources. Another pupil is very grateful to a member of the leadership team who gave him her phone number so that he has someone to talk to in times of need.
