Ethnic Group Study Report (200 pts)
(First Section) Conduct an in-depth study of a selected ethnic group (of student choice from Native American, Black, Latino/Hispanic American, Asian American, where Asian include Pacific Islanders and any root country from the Asian continent) (I chose asian American) , include their:
historical, social, political, and economic struggles (30 pts)
racial and social justice (20 pts)
solidarity, and liberation (20 pts)
their relevance to policies to promote anti-racism and support cultural sensitivity and competency that address health disparities (20 pts)
Critically evaluate the steps taken by and policies of the Federal/State and community nutrition programs to reduce racial disparities, socio-economic inequities and ensure accessible, culturally safe programs and services to improve the health outcomes in your ethnic group of study. (50 pts)
Explore how Ethnic Groups have implemented self- governed policies (10 pts) and interventions for healthy communities (10pts). Identify the gaps in community nutrition and healthcare policies that could be addressed to reduce racial disparities and health inequities (10 pts).
Finally, include a page minimum (2-page maximum) opinion piece; what are your thoughts on your research, and what can you personally do, or personally see, to help move initiatives forward that will make a positive difference in the lives of the American ethnicity you investigated. Include why you chose this group to study instead of another. (30 pts)
