Ethical Issue Paper
The purpose of the
paper is to probe deeply into the two opposing views of the presented ethical
issue and apply both ethical theory and principles to understand the impact of
the issue thoroughly.
1. Read the cases in
Module 2 and select one to address in your paper.
2.
Do NOT write the paper as
a report or an opinion paper. Instead, you are to reflect, compare, and
contrast opposing views unbiasedly.
3. The topic must have two
clear sides, and neither is wrong. You must apply both ethical theory and
principles in explaining each side. The analysis section will include a
brief (1-2 paragraphs) suggestion on an alternate resolution to the issue. Your personal opinion can only be included in the
concluding statements.
4. You
must identify the interdisciplinary team and a complete description of all
stakeholders in the case. There is a difference between the interdisciplinary
team and the stakeholders. If you are unfamiliar with the term “stakeholders,”
refer to the definition in Module 2 of the course.
5.
You will conclude with
what you have learned and how the information has impacted your previously held
beliefs on the topic.
6.
The
class readings may support this assignment, but you should also read and
integrate a minimum of three (3) peer-reviewed scholarly references no more
than five years old. The maximum number of references is six (6)
a.
The Butts and Rich
textbook will count as one reference if cited in the body of the paper. It is
not an edited book, so reference it correctly. No other textbook can be
referenced in the paper.
b.
You
cannot use web references, Wikipedia, or other references like newspaper
articles, blogs, or lay journals. You may use .gov websites for background
information, but these will not be included in the three peer-reviewed
