Essential Skills
A first or upper second-class bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a subject relevant to the work of UKCDR.
Quantitative analytical expertise, including experience working with statistical and visualisation software, MS Excel and other MS Office programmes, familiarity with manipulating spreadsheets and quantitative analysis techniques.
Experience working on large data sets and mapping activities, including collating, cleaning and validating data, as well as record keeping/data analysis.
Strong project management and organisational skills, with the ability to progress multiple workstreams at the same time, prioritise work effectively, and meet deadlines.
Desirable Experience:
Qualifications relating to coding, data analysis and/or project management.
Post-graduate qualification relevant to international development.
Proven experience in a research, funding or policy role relevant to science and/or international development, e.g. government, Research Council, NGOs (Non-Government Organisations), higher education, or consultancy.
Experience of working in public sector partnerships, for example linking government departments, research councils, or research teams, or in partnerships between the public sector and stakeholders.
Experience of working to SOPs/standardised processes and computerised record keeping
Desirable Skills:
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills with the ability to analyse complex information, summarise key conclusions or recommendations, and evaluate information from diverse perspectives.
Strong attention to detail while also being able to think strategically and see the ‘bigger picture’ and understand the impact of research.
Able to work as part of a team, under the supervision of senior personnel but also to take the initiative in organising and prioritising work efficiently and independently.
Excellent written and oral communication skills with demonstrable experience of drafting reports or papers to a high standard, complex issues in a digestible formal to multiple audiences.
Demonstrable interest in international development, with understanding of current key debates and priorities.
Ability to influence others, build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders and work with people at all levels.
