Stadium Design Project & Video (35 points)
Each student will complete a semester long project of designing and constructing a stadium or arena. Using the information from class concerning the historical evolution of facilities, contemporary facilities, stadium/arena technology, finance, construction, etc., each student will put together a comprehensive stadium plan to turn in as well as present virtually to the class
Stadium Design Project Paper (30 points)
For the paper, you must select either a team or city (or both) to design and build a new facility (Stadium or arena). Information should include, but is not limited to:
• Team of choice
• City of choice
• Exact location
• Architectural features
• Potential outside events
• Potential sponsors
• Naming rights
• Financing of stadium
• Approximate cost of construction and maintenance
• Pictures or diagrams of facility
• Pictures or diagrams of location
For each of the points above, the paper/project should provide explicit detail. All projects must be turned in via turnitin on the Blackboard site, contain clear concise writing, a variety (minimum of five) of sources, be free of grammatical and typing errors, and utilize APA 6th edition formatting. To fully explain and design the facility, it is essential that a variety of pictures or diagrams are included in the project. There will be a model paper to examine to help you in this process.
1. Stadium Design Video (5 points)
Each student is expected to post a short video clip (3 to 5 minutes) discussing their facility design to their peers. Information such as the location, city, team, overall design, and specific architecture features should be addressed. Students should comment on each other’s posts to provide positive or constructive feedback. Think of the video post as a professional style pitch in hopes of attracting investors to buy into your stadium idea/proposal.
