Your learning materials for this module discuss that when we view communication at the level of group identity, individuals begin to act as group members and understand themselves in relation to and in terms of group memberships. You are all a part of the Kingsborough Community College campus, a thriving institution for undergraduate students and one that fosters community and united group identity. Yet, there are many issues or barriers facing students at KBCC.
Kingsborough administrators have hired you to help resolve some of these issues or barriers facing our students. Kingsborough is hiring you to work with a group of other Kingsborough students to brainstorm some of the issues facing students and then find solutions to said issues. But before you do this, Kingsborough wants to make sure they place you with the right student group and ensure you are well equipped to work in a team.
With this in mind, for this Communication Challenge, you must think back to your reading “Group Communication, Teamwork and Leadership.” You first need to choose one positive group member role and one negative group member role, from your reading, that you most strongly identify with. Please define each of these two group member roles, and explain a time in which you exhibited the behaviors of each of these member roles while working in a group or team.
Then go on to further explain what you believe your greatest strengths and greatest weaknesses are when working in groups and how this helps and hinders you while working in a team. Your whole response should be 2-3 developed paragraphs.
