April 19, 2024

During this course, we will focus on marginalized populations and the impact of the environment around them. For this class, you will volunteer at an organization that focuses on providing services for vulnerable populations. The organization can be in the city where you reside or a virtual opportunity if the organization allows it. You will need to volunteer for at least 4 hours and have the volunteer supervisor sign a document verifying your attendance.
You will then individually write a reflection paper regarding your experiences and how they relate to the material in this class. The reflection paper should be 3-5 pages double-spaced, in 12-point Times New Roman font.
With the explanation below turn that into a detailed essay adding more to the topic and relating my experience to what the module slides, a great example is on the vulnerable population slides related to the food bank for people of low poverty. and I will provide the company website to add more to the essay.  You can make things up and add to the essay as needed.
The company I volunteered for was Neighborhood Needs Thrift and Clothing, Where the volunteers were tasked with unloading about 4 truckloads of donations from Albertsons, Sprouts Farmers Market, Costco, and other donation stores. We were then tasked to arrange them by the item being that of dairy products, bread, canned goods, and miscellaneous. We then organized and stocked them according to what they were in a grocery store-type building they had before the food bank opened. And organized the products in an order to where people could come in with a shopping cart and go in an organized U-shaped line to get the products that they needed. We also set up container boxes to put all the bread products as well as packaged water bottles for people to have. We also stocked deserts and deli products in the many fridges and coolers they had in the building as well. We also went through and sorted clothes donations and hung them in the building’s thrift store according to what they were short-sleeved sleeve shirts, long-sleeved, pants, hoodies, etc. As well as stock and organize kids’ toys and shoes. We also helped break down the donation food boxes to be returned to the stores later and helped out with sorting and packing food to be brought to South Hills High School’s food bank. The entire thing was run By Mrs. Becky and was interesting to learn that the business is nonprofit.
