During the course of the semester, you should develop an in depth understanding of at least one area of interpersonal communication. To accomplish this, you should select and carefully read an in-depth book (usually a paperback, not a text book) that is related to your area of interest. The entire book must be read, not skimmed.The book should be a self-help, relationship, or family relations book. This book should have at least 150 pages. Avoid making a random choice so that the book you select is consistent with your interests as well as the course. Once you have read the book, you will submit a one-page summary as it relates to your life by answering a set of questions in 1,2,3 format. Simply writing a “book report” of the contents of the book will not be fulfilling the assignment. The focus of your answers should be on personal application.
Your paper should be typed, 1 ½ or double spaced, and proofread.
Your paper should be at least 300 words long. Please note the word count at the end of the paper.
You MUST add your book to the discussion board labeled Book Application Paper topic. If someone else has chosen the same book, you must choose another book. Only one student can choose each book per class.
Please make certain to answer each of the following questions thoroughly. Use examples from the book and your own personal experience. Make sure to cite your sources if you decide to use outside sources (including the book you are writing about).
1. Why did you choose this book?
2. Briefly name and explain five things in the book that you thought were particularly helpful and applicable to your life.
3. Was there anything in the book you didn’t agree with or like?
4. Has this book changed the way you interact with others or see yourself? If so, how?
