Queers of Color Readings of Abrahamic Scriptures : DUE SUNDAY 11/8
In “Queerly A Good Friday,” Jeanette Mei Gim Lee writes, “I believe the Bible’s messages to be formative, existential, and inspirational, that is, open to different interpretations and responses,” (81) especially those that support a “liberation theology” for “queer of color” activism. Demonstrate writing intensive composition through a guided process of revision (WI). D. Demonstrate “Knowledge of Cultural Frameworks” through a “sophisticated understanding of the complexity of …another culture in relation to its …beliefs and practices” such as the in LGBTQI2 religions of: African Americans, Chicanos, Asian Americans, or Middle Eastern Americans” (HD).  
Organization: Near the end of page one, create a thesis at the end of page one that answers the essay prompt, choosing two different ethnic class texts assigned since essay 1 was due): Explain how queer Asian Americans, Chicanos, Blacks, Jews or Muslims queer Abrahamic religions.  If you are unsure how to write the thesis, you can combine the two topic sentences from pages two and three into a thesis that are described as follow.  Use something like this topic sentence on page two: In ____ (name article) by ____ (name author), the ____ (choose ethnicity) queers  _____ (Christianity, Judaism, or Islam). On page three, create a topic sentence like this: In ____ (name second article) by ____ (name second author), the ____ (choose ethnicity different from before) queers _____ (Christianity, Judaism, or Islam). On page four, the conclusion topic sentence needs to compare or contrast the queers of color readings from the two previous pages.
Content: On Page 1, Introduce your two authors’ works in 2-4 sentences each and explain the concept of queers of color relationship to an Abrahamic religion (Christianity, Judaism, or Islam), which can include black Buddhist and QAPA takes on Christianity as well. Include a thesis near the end of page one. One Page 2, analyze how a first ethnic group queers a Christianity, Judaism, or Islam. On page 3, analyze how analyze how a second ethnic group queers Christianity, Judaism, or Islam. In the Page 4 conclusion, compare or contrast the queer methods of the two ethnic groups. 
Citations: Quote your first author on page two and the second author of a different ethnicity on page three. Directly quote your two authors, putting relevant words in quotation marks rather than just paraphrasing. Explain the meaning of your quotes.  Put the page number and author/page/publication/etc. information in an endnote. Complete the works cited page comprised of the two entries for two authors after your conclusion. As before use the Chicago Turabian Notes-Bibliography style that we used in the last essay.
