Research Question: Does the level of processing engage in impact of immediate recall?
Hypothesis: Students engaging in semantic level processing will recall the greatest number of words.
Tested this by IV: 3 levels; structural – prompting group with the phrase “think about the length of the word”, Phonomic level – “Think about if the word has two syllables”, and the third Symantic level was “try to think and work as many of the words into a story.”
DV: Number of words recalled
Tested by showing groups with a powerpoint presentation, and prompted with their specific level of IV and then shown a list of 30 words for a minute then asked to recall the words.
The results were not significant which meant no difference int he number of words recalled between each group, however if there was a larger sample size we would have different results.
