A ten-page research proposal is required in this class. These ten pages do not include the title page and reference page(s). You must have a minimum of seven to ten relevant, recent empirical resources, gathered from books and professional journals. Websites are not eligible sources.
Your paper topic should be chosen carefully. First, it should be of personal interest. Second, it must be presented in such a way that opposing positions on an issue are evident and can be evaluated (see sample topics). Third, the topic must be considered in the context of fundamental psychological issues. Fourth, the topic must have a clear, global relevance. The first part of your paper will be a critical review of the literature (4 to 6 pages). This part of the paper should give the reader a thorough sense of the problem/dilemma and what professionals in the field think about it. In the second part of the paper, you will carefully delineate a method section that draws on previous research, and attempts to address an unanswered question.
Most of your efforts will be in reviewing the literature for evidence in support of your topic. In reviewing your articles, you should synthesize, integrate, and analyze previous literature, ultimately justifying the focus and premises of your study.
