Advocacy Discussion
In this module the focus is on the role of advocacy of nurse leaders. Use your voice to communicate the content of this assignment.  Discussion is encouraged.  
The purpose of this assignment is to develop your strength as a leader in advocating for important topics impacting health care.  You will also develop effective presentation skills. 
For the discussion:
Select the topic of your advocacy discussion early in the semester.  See the Action Item link to the Advocacy Topic selection spreadsheet in the Week One Activities module.
Research the topic you have selected to assure you have evidence to support the discussion.
Watch the Tutorial Videos for this Module.  
Develop a power point presentation based on the required readings for effective power point presentations.  Be sure to use the rubric to develop the presentation.
You must record a narrative for the  power point presentation using Panopto.  Please do not attempt to record the power point presentation in power point and plan to bypass Panopto, the recorded power point file will not effectively upload.  The presentation must be recorded in Panopto.  If you have difficulty recording the presentation, please email your primary faculty for assistance.  Use the tutorials as a guide.  Hint: Many of the challenges with recording usually involve using a Mac,  If you have access to a system that uses Windows,  you may have an easier time completing the recording. We have found that if you do choose to record on the web with the Mac, that significantly reduces the problems students have encountered in the past.  
Reminder:  the rubric will be found at the three dots located at the top of the discussion assignment.    
There is a 10 slide limit excluding a cover slide and a reference slide.  Include a reference slide with the presentation.
You will Use a Reply post to these instructions to post your recorded presentation. 
See the tutorial video for how to record using Panopto. The initial post recording should not exceed 10 minutes.
Prepare the Reply post with the title on the first line:  Last name First name  Initial Post Advocacy Discussion  
After you type the first line,  enter several blank lines to place the move the cursor down the page and then go the plug shaped icon at the top right of the reply box.
From the list in the drop down box, select Panopto Video.
There are three tabs in the Panopto video,  select Choose to insert your recorded presentation.
Review 4 peer presentations and complete cross posts for a minimum of two presentations.  Cross posts must be recorded narratives.  Cross posts should not exceed 3 minutes.  There is not a time limit on responses to peer cross posts.     
Respectful discourse is encouraged.
Discussions:  Discussions will not be edited or deleted after submission. If revisions are needed, the revised submission may be submitted as a reply to the original submission with a heading noting the resubmission of the content.  If significant time has elapsed from the original submission, greater than five minutes, the original submission will be the work graded and the resubmission will not be evaluated for grading.
