For each scenario, be sure to fully explore the role of the BSN nurse in each healthcare setting. For example, leadership considerations for the homecare RN may be very different than leadership roles within the institutional setting. Be sure to reflect on similarities and differences within the roles and care coordination.
Scenario: The homecare RN is assigned to change the dressing for a patient in the home that has a wound vac. Upon arrival to the home, it appears that the wound is poorly healing and has a foul-smelling odor. The health care provider is not scheduled to re-evaluate the patient for another 4 weeks.
