Discussion: Ethical Companies

Anthony: After watching the Nike documentary, I believe that a company would be ethical if they are very transparent. In relaying how they treat their workers overseas or abroad to the public, the public will have a better understanding of what that company is as a corporation, and what they stand for. Along with being transparent, I believe that an ethical company is one of integrity. An example would be Patagonia and how they are donating some of their profits to research such as climate change, and donate 1% of their earnings to the preservation of the environment. Companies such as Patagonia are ethical because they act their business with integrity. They want their profits to have an impact on their country’s nature preservation for the future generations which makes their actions justified. I believe that being an ethical company comes down to transparency with the public along with having integrity for your purpose as a big name corporation. If a big name corporation has a goal to help its environment and help the public I think that company is ethical.
