Based off today’s lecture, I think that human rights are both universal and culturally relative. Human rights are universal because every human no matter where in the world deserve basic rights. In fact, The Human Rights Revolution views that human rights are increasingly the business of the international community. However, state by state and culture by culture, these human rights can and are defined differently. For example, the Realists goal of foreign policy is to promote national interests and believe that human rights are a matter between a government and its citizens.
5. Recently a missile landed in Poland. Reports originally believed it originated from Russia, but now reporting is mixed.
If the missile had indeed been launched from Russia and hit Poland, a NATO nation, explain how NATO’s Article 5 could be activated, what this would mean, and how this differs from Russia attacking Ukraine, which is not a NATO country.
6. Using the article below and your personal internet research, discuss the USMCA and its changes to NAFTA. What are some of the specific changes? Do you think the changes are significant? Your answer should about 2-3 paragraphs long.
